Introduction

  • Welcome to our Class Wiki!  A Wiki is a website used so that students can add or change information that is put on it.  Our class will be using this Wiki for many different activities.

  • At the bottom of the page, there will be links to different subjects.  You will be able to find this week's activity in the subject that it belongs to.

  • As we do different activities, the directions will always be posted on this first page.  This page is called the FrontPage. (Do you see how it is written at the top?) Our FrontPage is called, Second Grade Learning.

This week's activity is "Before the Report".

Instructions

We have been talking in class about famous historical people.  Now that you have gone to the library and have chosen your person for your report, it's time to get started on our activity.

PART A

  1. First, you need to click on the bottom link that says "Social Studies".
  2. Once you get to the Social Studies page, you will see "Before the Report" listed.  This is where you will post your information about your historical person.

  3. At the bottom of the page, click on the word that says "Edit".  You will see a new page come up.
  4. After the last words that are on the page, take the mouse and click on the next blank space underneath it.
  5. Now, type in your name and press enter.
  6. Next, type 1. and put who you are doing your report on.
  7. Next, type 2. and type in 2 facts about your person. There must be two seperate, complete sentences.
  8. Next, type 3. and type in your two sources that you have checked out from the library or the website that you got from the internet. Books must have a title and an author.
  9. Finally, click on the word that says "Save", which is at the bottom of the page.

PART B

  1. First, click on the link that says "Social Studies."

  2. Find the posting that has your peer's name.  (You were given a paper that has the peer's name that you will be reading.)

  3. Read your peer's posting.

  4. On the top, right corner you will see a tab that says "Sidebar".  In the side bar, towards the bottom of the box, you will need to click on "Edit."

  5. A new screen will come up.  This is where you will be posting a question or comment about your peer's posting.

  6. First, you need to type the word "To" and then type your peer's name. Right after that, type "From" and then type your name. Press enter.

  7. Next, type a question that you have for your peer or a comment about what your peer could add to his report.

  8. Click on the word "Save".

  9. Return to the Frontpage by clicking on the word "Frontpage" which is at the bottom.
